Hi Ross,

Yes, I've been quiet lately - because I'm so busy with my day job (making software). The EV stuff is on the side, and when deadlines loom (as they have been) the SPARC falls to the wayside. We're still making progress on it (slowly) but hopefully things will pick up at the end of summer...

Cheers,

Eric

Hi,
So quiet on the blogfront...
I hope that means you're busily advancing your vehicle.
Looks like a really nice design. Very Cree-like.
A classic design following functional aspects of the EV form.

Hope there's more to come.

cheers,
Ross

Hi Jack,

Take a look at the product page for the xenoDisplay:

http://www.xenopi.com/?page_id=229

It answers most of your questions. The xenoDisplay does not have a fixed communications data format. Instead, it speaks to each device in the device's own data protocol. Most devices aren't really programmable, so the xenoDisplay has to adapt to them instead of them adapting to the xenoDisplay. This means we write dedicated communication modules for the code for each device.

Cheers,

Eric

This looks great. I do hope you'll make it available for IPAD as well.

My question regards the equipment end. Will I be able to develop a device to connect to this app from a different controller/etc. I don't actually care about individual cell voltages and won't be using Elithion.

But if the data format were published and the Wifi device required, it sounds likeit coulld be interfaced to other devices. Curtis 1238 controller for example. Xantrex LinkPro or Linklite, etc.

1) The xenoDisplay software will be sold through Apple's App store (at least, the iPhone/iPod/iPad version will be). We haven't finalized the price yet, but we hope to do so soon. We'll make an announcement on the website when the price is finalized.

2) There will be themes available for the xenoDisplay. However, due to the way Apple controls the hardware & software, it might not be possible for us to allow end-users to import their own themes directly. If this is the case, we will just include new themes (including user submitted themes) in periodic (free) updates.

3) Theme selection by the end user is a planned feature. It's not in there yet, but it will go in for version 1.0.

4) Once we have settled on a theme format, submitting themes for inclusion will be very easy. The images are PNG format and the layout format is very easy to understand. We're not quite at that stage yet, but when we are ready to accept user-designed themes, we'll announce on the website.

Thinks looks very promising indeed. I have been researching options for months now, and this and the EV Display are the only nice looking frontends available for EVs, although your xenodisplay looks to be by far more superior in that it can display any logged parameter by the Lithiumate BMS.

I have a few questions:
1. Is this software going to be released to the public - either via opensource project or as a download on this site?
2. Have you made the interface/display in a way that it is easily customisable so it can be themed or modified to suit the needs of the users?
3. Similar to question 2, will it be possible for users to create their own custom gauges and select what is displayed?
4. I'd very much like to contribute some themes/gauges for your software - how can I do this and what format do you need the images to be in?

Thanks for reading, pop me an email if you want to discuss further :)

Cheers.

Hi Santini,

It's in the works. =) The current graphic is temporary. The range will go from negative (regen) to positive (normal draw) so the user will know when they are utilizing regen.

A suggestion

you should modify the amp gauge to show when the motor goes in regen mode
